19.6% of all households have been made of human beings, and 9.6% had someone dwelling alone who was sixty-five years of age or older. About 9,000 of the 22,000 individuals dwelling in cities died in the epidemic, amounting to 41% of the inhabitants. Ten physicians, 16 surgeons, and over a thousand hospital attendants died from the plague. Of these, a minimum of 2,057 died in Valletta, 1,885 in Senglea, 1,790 in Birgu, and 1,320 in Cospicua. Inhabitants of Valletta have been buried in a cemetery on the Isolotto, now often called Manoel Island. There was specific devotion to patron saints of the plague-contaminated equivalent to Saint Roch and Saint Sebastian, and likewise to other saints such as our lady, saint rosalia, saint Nicholas and Saint Anne. There was a religious revival throughout the epidemic, resulting in the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and relics. In the course of the epidemic, the deceased had been often not buried in churches, as was common practice at the time. These could not be practiced through the epidemic, so they were abandoned in favor of wearing black. Over 300 properties, 10 businesses, and two churches had been destroyed. Operationally, the NHC didn’t begin issuing advisories on the depression till September 26; at that time, the system’s outflow developed, and the depression was almost stationary as a mid-degree low over Mexico moved south.
